GERD is Gastroesphageal Reflux Disease and is caused by acute acid reflux. The main symptoms of GERD are regurgitation, heart burn and nausea. Most often the heartburn is caused after a meal.
If the reflux goes past the upper oesophagus it can enter the throat and cause a sore throat and hoarseness. The other symptoms of the disease are nausea, laryngitis and chronic dry cough.
